Style by LaLucca Top 8 Trend Picks for Spring 2024

Here are my top picks that you may want to add to your closet for Spring along with tips and tricks on how they can work for your body type. Let's work to ensure that what you buy really makes a difference in how you look and feel this upcoming season. If you are like me you may even find many of these items in your closet and just need new ways to style them. This Spring is a time to shine with confidence.

Knitwear

This seasons designs are all about comfort and simplicity ... no super tight knit clothing. For that Vacay any day Vibe look to Fisherman Sweaters and Boho Mini Shawls. Cardigans will be the most prominent knitwear trend this season and it is super easy for anyone to wear. Crocheted Skirts and Jackets are another way to update your wardrobe. Look for intricate designs with a hand crocheted look. Another chic way to wear knitwear is to layer an openwork knit over a silk dress for when the temperatures rise and you want to feel breezy. Accessories are always a great way to add a trend into your Spring wardrobe.

Denim Dandy

Denim is an every-season every-kinda girl staple, but this season you will see some knockout denim styles and silhouettes. Look for Cropped and Cinched waist jackets and jeans with great lines and drama. Look for Wide Leg Denim Trousers and wear them with a fitted denim jacket as your spring uniform of choice. Denim on Denim continues strong with lighter to mid washes leading the trend.

Sporty Chic

This season take your athletic and sporty clothing up a notch and pair classic sporty clothes with more tailored pieces. A classic jacket and Bermuda shorts become a sporty suit that is not only chic but also comfortable. It is a go anywhere - do anything look that many will love. For contrast go for a pair of satin pants and windbreaker. My favorite is all of the Short Sets that are showing up in stores, you can find these in cotton, Linen and knits. Make sure the short length ends at a thinner part of your leg for a flattering look.

Olympic Metals

In this summer of Olympics go for the gold (or silver). Metallic Fashion in the warmer months that make you shimmer will stretch your limits as you come out a style winner. Wear Gold if you are a Warm, Soft, or Light color code. Go for the Silver if you are a Cool, Clear. If you are a Deep Color code you can go either way and win. For those daring, you can even find Metallic swimwear for a day at the beach or a metallic cycle suit for your daily bike ride. Or if full on metallic is out of your comfort zone just add some sparkly sandals or a bag. And another thing to remember is that any metallic will emphasize curves.

Preppy & Poppy

You don't need to join a sorority to enjoy this trend of the past. The new looks have preppy origins with a new vibe. A polo with its collar popped up will lead the lineup for Spring and Summer. At FINN ⚓️ LUCCA we are enjoying nautical stripes and nautical motifs - and they never looked better. Try one preppy piece mixed with Navy oversized pants and a blazer ala' country club chic. Make this look your own with your favorite worn in loafers, vest and a collared shirt from your closet. Keep the patterns in proportion to your frame - bigger frame, bigger pattern and smaller frame, smaller pattern. Don't forget the pearls !!

Volume Volume Voluminous

The Great White Dress is the perfect way to evoke a summery feel in a new voluminous way. Pick a style that showcases your best body features... Are you a d body type - Go for a fitted waist and even try an extra wide belt. Are you a O body type - Opt for volume on your sleeves and an extra flutter at the bottom of the dress. Are you a b body type - Go for a fuller dress from the top down such as a A-Line. If you are a X body type - You can wear almost any silhouette as long as you look balanced. Try styling over pants and with loafers for a fresh take on spring. Or wear a pair of white flowing pants with a high volume top and get the same voluminous look as a dress.

Ice and Sea Blues

This is the season to go all in on the icy and sea blue look. Go for a monochromatic look and look 10 pounds thinner. Blues are a great color if you are a soft or a light in color code or just want a lady like vibe. You can also wear blue as an inside or outside column to unify your look. Column dressing is a wonderful way to camouflage a little fluff around your tummy or hips. Another great styling tip is to add Black as a base layer and then an icy or sea blue jacket for a more edgy look. Blue and Red together is a pleasing color combo and modern color-block look if you are a medium to high contrast gal. Icy Blues also look great with Tye Dyed pieces.

Pencil and Midi Skirts

I love how we are seeing skirts worn out of the boardroom and onto the streets. They are a great alternative to pants and are really comfortable to wear. Try a long denim maxi skirt and style it just like you would your favorite pair of jeans. A pencil skirt with a hoodie is an unexpected pairing and will give you a day to night look that is chic and effortless. To capture the effortless look style your skirt with a tank top or a t-shirt that mixes sleek with casual OR tailored with boho... its all about the juxtaposition of your pieces.

I hope that you will take some time and go through your closet to see what you have that you can update and style in a new way. Then make a list of a few trend pieces that will make you feel fresh, confident and modern. My closet is filled with many staples and loads of denim that I will be mixing in with some of these new looks for a bit of fun in Spring 2024. The Style by Color Spring Outfit planner comes out this month and it will give you direction on how to mix classics/staples and trend pieces for your 27 Hangers Capsule Wardrobe.
